That is pretty much a brand new 1957 Mercury 40 hp outboard motor.

Motor will probably be done next week, just have to drive the 12 hour round trip to pick it up. Looks like the boat will not be in the water this fall. I have a lot to get done and have trips to do along with prepping for hunting. One good thing is that I will have the time over the winter to get everything done correctly don't want to rush stuff just to drive it.

That right there is a brand new 1957 Mercury Mark 55. Sad part is I won't get to pick it up for close to 2 weeks I leave for Mexico City next Monday-Friday.

Yeah it is getting to be more than a $100 investment, but still cheap price for a new 40hp motor.

Love the motor but I forgot what a diabolical engineer Carl Kiekhaefer was. To remount the starter you have to pull the carb intakes and fuel lines off. Sure glad I am not rushing to get the boat in the water, I removed the charging system and have some wiring to redo.

Going to have to pull the wood and seat cushions the hull has to go to the upper garage when I shoot a deer. I can't get two boats and a deer hanging in the shop.

I have no idea why I disliked that comment, must have been my fat thumbs. Fixed it.

Damn it Bob I cherish the dislikes. But in all honesty Carl built things that requires special tools to get some things apart. That is why I pay people but the work that they do will last years without serious maintenance.
