I think it will be possible to get stuff painted and in place, long way from done but progress is motivational. My wife is going to a friends cabin up north next week, I can binge work on the boat, lots of buffing and fitting to be done sleep is over rated.
Kind of a funny story, I brought the boat to work yesterday to use the woodshop tools to cut the wood to fit. I got the wood cut and the shop cleaned up. I was sitting in the break room eating lunch and my Dad walked in with the wood scraps all excited. He wanted to know how much $ I blew buying the wood for my boat. I explained I was repurposing wood from a boat I bought for $250. He told me that the mahogany was not the lightweight philippine mahogany but based on density it is african mahogany. He is a wood hoarder but he said that the wood for the seats is worth more than the damn boat. I did tell him I had a 1-12x 48" extra piece he could have, I would take it off the burn pile.
Well after a lull in progress I am back at it. I have the front backrests routered out and sanded to fit laying down layers of spar probably put the front seat together by the end of the week. I am excited laying out the wood was a pain I wanted an offset to sink the wood into the frame just a little and highlight the aluminum trim. I am no woodworker so it was slow progress and a leap of faith I had one shot with the wood I used there is no getting another piece to match I ended up sanding to fit.
I was going to have the windshield mounted last night, that was until I snapped off the 10/24 tap. It happened 5 minutes after the hardware store closed.
Very excited the motor genius now has the motor, I will post up pics as he sends them. The guy used to race boats the smaller hydroplane boats they all used old mercury motors. This guy will take a 1957 4 cylinder mercury and make the internals better than new, stunning work.
