so I was just wondering if anybody on here uses a 10 yd pin? I have found that my 20 yard pin is pretty accurate at shorter distances but I have been debating adding a 10 yd pin, any thoughts? especially for shorter shots out of the tree stand

I use my 20 yard pin and never had an issue. I've killed at least 4 deer that I can think of that were 10 yards or under using my 20 yard pin. It's up to you but I don't think it's necessary.

I would only use a 10yd pin on a youth or low power bow.

With as fast as most of today's bows are, the difference between 10 and 20 yards is so small that it just isn't needed. I have a 5 pin sight set at 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60.

Modern bows of relatively good speed don't need a ten yard pin. In my opinion it's just more clutter in the sight window. In fact, three years ago I switched to a single pin sight and shoot it from point blank to 30 yards with the pin set at 22.5 yards with no trouble. Beyond 30 yards I can range it and slide the pin to the exact yardage as needed.

With my previous bow my pins were 10, 20, 30, 40. Shooting a lower poundage bow and a shorter draw length, I liked having a 10 yard pin for those close shots.

On my current bow I have them set at 15, 25, 30, 40. That 15 yard pin is pretty much dead on from 10-20. I opted for this as the gap between my 20 and 30 pins were so big (no idea why) that it was hard for me to gap shoot and be accurate. So this pin set up has helped me immensely with gap shooting.

I set my HHA to 20 yards. The change is hardly noticeable at 10 yards.

I use my 20 but i aim just slightly lower and have no issues... i can see maybe for a youth hunter setup a 10 20 and 30 yard pin but nothing more...

a 10yd pin can hit 20yds. and a 20yd pin can hit 10yds. if you sight your bow on a quarter size hole on a chart at 10yds. youll be fine from 10 to 20+yds on deer and turkey

Thanks for all the replies and advice. I think I will just stick with the 20 yd pin and call it a day

Just aim for the heart when he is that close. I was just shooting from an elevated stand at the local park here and had my hha set on the 20 yard setting which is how I have it when I hunt. When I shoot at 10 yds i'm about 1.5-2 inches high and at 25 yards i'm about an 1.5 -2 inches low.

I would stick with just the 20 yard pin and know to aim just a tad low on the super close shots like that.

Line of site is the same at 20 yd and 50 yd using today's tech, peep site ect.I learned a trick that at 10 ft you can use the 50 yd pin and hit dead center otherwise a 20 yd pin will be around 2 in low. IMHO in all hunting this is useless lol
