Sitting here on vacation in Virginia Beach thinking about the drive back home and the traffic I have to deal with where. I realized in 10 weeks I will ne saddled up and heading into elk camp ! Boy I can't wait....and i know that I am not the only one counting the weeks.
More like counting the minutes here! Me and the ol' man are heading up for a little bonzai scouting trip soon. Make sure everything is looking good. I think i've packed and re-packed my overnight night pack ten times now! Can't wait to have my camp on my back and a road 10 miles behind me!
My elk bow arrived a couple days ago and I just got her set up, so I'm ready to start tuning her up for the trip. Of course, it's just like my other bow I've been shooting all year except a different color.
Backcountry, make sure you join the West team in the East vs West thread! The elk are looking awesome here in Colorado. We've had plenty of moisture-thus plenty of vegetation for grazing. The bull's antlers are huge! It's going to be a goooood year! Elk, when are you coming through? Greg, I'm in the process of setting up another bow to hunt with and then leave in Africa. I feel like a kid in a candy store right now. I'm as excited as heck for the season to start...ten days!
Will , your a lucky fella getting to go Africa , but gimme north American Big Game any day , although that may change in years to come . After I get my Elk , Mountain Goat , Big Horn Sheep , Mulie , Whitetail , Turkey and Black Bear . Elk , I'm with you all the way buddy , I am bubbling inside . I have a real buzz about this year , September cannot come soon enough
Sheezzz Dave...from the sounds of it, you had better be careful. That third leg you're sporting might keep you from climbing....LOL. Cannot wait to have you here buddy! Keep those Brits of yours from packing too much gear (sounds like they're bringing the kitchen sink).This elk hunting is a game of cat and mouse. You need to be able to move quickly and quietly. Too much in your pack is a hinderence.
I take it myou are refering to my FB lol , hmmmm she's a lively one I'll do my best with the Guys , I know only to well that too much is a hinderence and can seriously damage your ability to spot and stalk .... leave it with me :p
