Rut is on here in MI! This is my biggest buck ever, shot him right at 7:00am this morning! was only in the stand for 30 minutes, it is seriously too good to be true! He was trailing a doe, grunting at her. I'll give a better story later.. heres a quick pic:D:D I was nestled into my treestand this morning at 6:25am. It wasn't shortly after I got my bow on the hook and safety vest attached that I could hear a lot of movement around me. As the sun started to rise I could barley see a doe walking straight toward me. She got to the base of my tree and was practically licking it. Just then I hear some heavy crashing and I turn around to see a much bigger body deer coming from the swamp. He was grunting at her softly and also walked right to the base of my tree. I could see his main beams as the sun started rising and knew he was a shooter! The doe circled my tree and walked right in front of me at 13yards. The buck followed her and I gave him a quick maa , when I was at full draw I realized it was still to dark to shoot so I let up. The buck trotted off tail up about 30 yards and looked back. After a few minutes of investigating he realized he wanted to chase the doe a little bit more. The doe walked in the same path again with the buck following her, but this time I had better light. I ended up hitting the buck high and in the spine, and finished him off with a solid shot to the lungs after getting down from my stand. I was amazed by how much blood this deer had lost from a shot that high. Any guesses on an age and score would be appreciated. (sorry about the tongue) He is my third buck and by far the biggest. After shooting a 5pt and 6pt I told myself I would pass on the little guys. Just this year I passed on a 4 pt and a spike, the spike my friend shot. It feels really good to finally shoot one over 1.5!!:D
Good job! That's what it's all about...sometimes thirty minutes is all it takes. It just a matter of being there! You were spot on today, CONGRATS!
