I would have done the same except with a better plan about the rope once the deer got out

It depends on how big he is and if anyone is looking.

Now I'm confused. I hope you're just joking. Everyone is saying it is not sportsmanlike to kill a deer in a hole, even if he is a trophy.

I would try to rescue. I'm all about a fair hunt. Never shoot roosting turkey or partridge. Bedded deer etc. I watch more then I shoot anyhow. Plus the adrenaline dump on that deer the meat would taste like crap.
    It's not shopping after all.

Since were all in agreement on this... What about if you all stumbled on two bucks with tangled racks and one is already dead from exhaustion?

I would rescue, would never consider shooting an animal trapped in any certain way. Glad the guys in the video were able to rescue the buck, now they have a background and history with this buk if any of them are able to harvest in the future.

Same thing, if possible untangle and rescue the one still living. Todd Graf has a video on here of him doing just that a few years ago.

Funny considering peoples opinions and how shooting a buck in a hole is somewhat similar to penned deer hunting... The area they are in is just a little larger, just sayinnn :p

The condition of the animal would have alot to do with it. If the deer was on the verge of dying or injured in any way would have no problem shooting it or have any trouble looking at it on the wall.

Alot of it depends on the situation. At the end of the day it's just a deer, it's not like I'd go around bragging and don't know how anyone could.

I would try to rescue but only if I felt comfortable with the deer not hurting me. Its not worth having to go get stiches.

These guys did the right thing and because they did they will be paid back. I would like to see the deer they shot the next few years
