Going out shedding again tomorrow. I am heading into some thick cover, getting covered up with clothes, and I WILL find a shed so help me god. I have an intense meeting at work at 4:30pm tomorrow, but will walk/shed hunt for 3-4 hours in the morning in an effort to attain a zen like mentality prior to heading into the bs at work.

The world's worst shed hunter returned home yet empty handed again this morning. :( Tromped around all over a new spot for a good 3 hours. Nada.

Scouted/shed hunted this morning for hours...nada, zilch, zip. Went into some nast thick spots and got cut up with nothing to show. On the flip side, I may have found one of the best funnels I have ever seen....it is both a natural and made man funnel that come together via a fence, ravine, rock quarry, and stream. KILL.

Thanks man..I have scouted probably 50 hours or so and have found 1 shed...1 ( I SUCK). I am going back at it again tomorrow for maybe the last time. I got poison ivy and had 5 ticks on me from scouting Sunday. Plus it is going to be 85 degrees tomorrow here in VA...goodness!

50 hours scouting is more than most guys do in 3 seasons.

Very cool Brett.. you're going to like where it all leads.:)

Sorry about the 1 shed though.. but just so you get a feel... when I first started shedding a few years back.. I barely found 3 or 4 a year. If that!

Eventually.. it all becomes like second nature. Good luck!

Mike, thanks. It can get frustrating, but dang I cannot find a shed to save my life. The only one I found this year I was literally running through the woods at the end of one of my scouting trips. LOL. Maybe I should just run all the time. I am very excited about this year (as I am every year). It is weird because I hear people talk about getting to know certain bucks and their behavior because they get them on trail cam each year, see them, almost kill them....I gain a history with the land I walk and hunt. I feel like the land and I are up close and personal. I know, it is weird, but hey when you only see a buck once and he is gone where you hunt, I guess you have to readjust your mentality or risk going nuts!

3 more solid hours looking for sheds this morning..NADA. I did find two solid high ground shelves that must have some buck movement given the right wind/timing..the spots were too remote and rugged for a good buck not to bed somewhere around those travel cooridors.

So very true. You get a better feel for picking the right kinds of areas and you train your eyes with experience. I've always said it and believe it, if the bucks are there the sheds are somewhere out there, they dont just magically vanish. Keep after it Brett all that scouting and shed hunting will help out come fall. Good luck.

Heading out tomorrow morning to do some more scouting next to a big lake. From the looks of things, this place looks like it gets minimal public land hunting pressure. I hope I fid a dang shed! If I do, I am stopping on the way home and drinking a 6 pack as I caress the shed!

Sorry guys been a while since I've checked in and been longer since I was in the woods. Between work and buying a different house and selling mine I've been a little tied up. I'm still sitting on a zero.
