That is all that matters bud. Every setup is different. Spine charts are a guide. If someone looked at the setup I was shooting out of my Commander they would have told me it was too stiff. That bow just "liked" a stiffer arrow.
The way they are both are getting away with the same arrow at different draw weights, draw lenghts and tip weight, is 1 is a compound the other is a recurve. Sometimes I wish that those who think they know a little about arrows would keep their hands in their pockets:d
Jeff, as Kanga mentions below... the overall arrow length has a lot to do with it. I shoot the Beman ICS 340 woodgrain looking arrows out of my recurve at 31" with a 175ish gr point and get excellent flight. However, I can take the same Beman arrows and screw in a 100gr. point and shoot them out of my Allegiance and they too tune almost perfect. It's crazy what you can do with the spine of a single arrow simply by adjusting tip weights. Take a 400 spine arrow and put 125grs on the front and it'll perform like a 500 with a lighter tip. Or you can take the same 400 spine arrow and put an 75 grain tip and it'll perform like a 340...
I think the conversation is getting off alittle bit. To answer your ? Rob is the closest with yes and no, My Bowtech 101st is shooting 302 fps on the nose set at #65 with 28 1/2 draw and yes I can shoot 1 pin 20 to 30 yards. But not dead on I still have about 2-3 inch's of drop with my 20 being dead on and then shooting it at 30yards, now in a hurry on a buck he is not going to know if I aimed 2 inchs high to hit dead on or just aimed dead on and hit him 2 inch's lower in the lungs he is dead either way. But I am NO PRO with bows but I don't think you can achive dead on with a 20 yard pin at 30 yards just my $.02 Walt
The same arrow, only shorter, will be stiffer, not weaker. See, I told you we could be here for hours. This one always get's 'em goin!
That's exactly what It Is Jeff, different style bows (compounds, recurves, longbows). Before I got these FMJ's Russ helped me pick out the right arrow for my set up so I could achieve the high FOC I was looking for. If I was shooting a longbow at the same draw weight these 340's would not have worked (too stiff If I recall). There's more energy or something In recurve limbs that make that arrow bend a tad more then that of a longbow. Russ (Kanga) knows a ton about this stuff and he could explain It much better then I could.
so yeah . . . just to answer about my arrow, it is 28 and some change" long. I want to say 7/8. Im using a whisker biscuit rest. It came with the bow. Good enough for a beginner? And whoever said it was right about my arrow going crazy with a fixed blade broad head. It flew up and to the right. . . cant explaint that. So my arrows seem to be flying true so how bout I stick with those and do some serious shooting from different yardages. Back to the pic of me at full draw. Everything look ok there? Thanks again, and youre welcome for opening up a can of worms. It was fun to read.
Schultzy's arrows fly true with a fixed blade BH. Think about which arrow is setup correctly for their bow.
