I am just wondering how many of you shoot with just your dominant eye open or with both eyes open. I have always shot my bows with just my dominant eye open. I tried to shoot with both eyes open for the first time today and I was amazed at the difference. 3 shots later I was shooting beter than with just my dominant eye open. This is at about 12 yards
I kind of cheat. I start with one eye briefly, more of a squint. Then go to both when I am settled in...
Its a well known fact that you will usually shoot better once you get used to shooting with both open. I use my dominant eye only when drawing and settling in, lining everything up. Then I open my other eye. It actually makes a pretty big difference when shooting in low light.
Funny thing, I am left eye dominant, but was trained to shoot with my right eye, aparently my dad the Optometrist wanted to make me his little project haha. But I do more of what Heckler says. I line up first with my right eye and just squinting with my left, once I am on the target however thats when both eyes are open. I was a little leary about it at first, but now I love it, plus it lets you see everything instead of just a fraction of what you are shooting at
2 eye's for sure. Ive found with 2 eyes open you tend to have a better follow through and not try and move your bow to watch where the arrow is going.
Usually start with both open but close my dominant eye once I figure I am on target. My dominant eye is on the wrong side so I close it to ensure I am aiming at the right spot.
I might have to work on this. i tend to have a problem trying to watch my arrow. so maybe this will help
Both eyes open for compound shooting with peeps, right hand and right eye dominant, HOWEVER I use my left eye to sight when I shoot my recurve instinctive. 'Splain that to me Lucy!
I shoot with both eyes open and teach it as well. I never let my son close an eye, even when he was little. Like this:D Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
