Ok so just got back in my truck from walking out to check my trail cams. As I walked across the field I spooked up this bedded little buck and we had a stare off for about 5 min. Long enought for me to pull out my phone and take a pic of him 30 yards away. He finally ran off so I keeps going to the edge of the woods with a bag of mineral mix and a block. I freshened up the mineral lick and was kneeling down checking the cards on my tablet and I hear some foot steps. I was all dressed for work I'm Air Force and had my ABU's on I look up and this same buck is 5 yards in front of me and walking at me. He got about close enough I could have slapped him in the head(maybe not that close but 10'). Then just stares at me like"hey what's up, did ya bring food?". I tried to pull my phone out to get another pic of him but he got spooked and bolted. Craziest encounter I have ever had for sure!!!
I had a doe walk up to within 5 yrds of me on Saturday while checking cams. I saw her before she saw me as she was coming down the creek so I just stopped walking. The wind was in my face and she mostly had her head down as she was browsing as she walked. When she got to 5 yds and picked her head up I said Hi lol she about came inside out...
You just never know what those critters will do. A few years ago I had a button buck follow me to and from my stand everytime I went out. It would bed nearby while I was in the stand and as soon as I got out, it would follow me at a distance of about five feet until I got back to the truck. Blessings........Pastorjim
I had three does walk up on me as I am sitting by the mineral site lookin at cam pix on my laptop a few weeks ago. Scared all of us equally!
