Couple of simple questions. How happy are you with your truck? Reliability wise, how has it been? How many miles have you put on? What serious issues (if any) have you experienced? What kind of fuel mileage are you getting (highway, city, combined)? Only interested in 5.4 4x4s. Thanks!

I have an 08 150 4x4 and love it! Mileage is good going down the road...about 18 mpg.Only problem I have had was heater actuator croacked but was warranty, had it about 1 year and have about 26K on it.I stepped up to larger tires, went with LT 265 from P235 tires...I like 10 ply! It's just a plain truck, nothing electric or power, don't need the hassles! The 5.4 will run when you need it,helps to go with K&N filter.

I have an 04 F-150 FX4. I blew the subwoofer and had a piece of door trim start peeling off while under warranty. Last year while in Brown County hunting I had the rear axle seal go out on one side. Other than that I have close to 70,000 miles and have beat the snot out of it and it is doing well. I plan to run the dang thing into the ground and then will get another one. Not sure on mileage, never bothered checking.

06 F150 SuperCrew 4x4. I DID get 13-17 depending on how hard I pressed the petal, but after installing these bigass tires, I average 11-12 with mostly city miles. Pulling my boat on the highway I get 10. Driving highway, I get 13-14. BUT, if you don't plan on running 35" tires, don't worry about that.

I have put around 10k on it since I got it, living 1 mile from school helps.

Negatives, Mirrors don't hold up well to drive through car washes....first time ever trying one and my mirror cover snapped off. :deer:

But I love my truck more than any other I have rode in extensively, and with my Dad's company vehicles that has included an 01 GMC Sierra (Mine), 03 Chevy Silverado, 04 Chevy Avalanche, 06 Nissan Titan, and even his 09 Chevy Silverado.....I just LOVE my Ford.

I think the 04-07 Body Styles are the sharpest body offered by any company any year as well, I love em.

I'll drive mine for atleast 6 more years, probably buy me a new ride once I graduate college.

I have an '06. It has a V6 so I won't comment on engine talk.

But, I do love my truck. I have put 40K miles on it and done nothing but change the oil and windshield wipers. They haven't been the smoothest miles either :d.

Forgot to mention that I blew out an 18" rim on mine when I hit a pothole at 70 mph.

I have on 06 extended cab 4x4 w/5.4. I get on average about 13 mpg around town and 15-17 mpg on the highway depending on how fast I drive. :D I bought the truck brand new and have just under 60,000 on it now (yeah, I drive a lot). I haven't had any problems mechanically to speak of, other than the defroster on the driver's door not working, and a small rattle in my driver's side door panel that's bugging the crap out of me. Other than that, all I've done to it has been routine maintenance, brakes, and tires.

I recently put an Edge Evolution programmer in it for a little more power on the highway trips, and threw a Leer cap on the back to cover up my hunting stuff. I fully intend on driving this truck into the ground before I buy a new one.

i've got an 05 s-crew lariat... love my truck, on the highway i've seen as much as 18mpg, typically average about 15.5-16 during my morning commute during the summer (winter blend fuel cuts my mileage by about 1.5-2mpg right about the 1st week of December like clockwork)... i'm just about to turn 50k on mine, i seriously haven't had a single issue with it... it has been absolutely perfect... more comfortable on the highway than the wifes minivan... I'm seriously considering replacing the wifes minivan with another f150 s-crew when its time... it is hands down the best truck on the market, the only thing "lacking" is the motor, though its ridiculous to call 300hp 'weak'... i'm gonna make it thru this next winter on the tires I've got now and replace 'em next spring, not bad, I can deal with getting nearly 60k out of the stock tires... I'd buy this truck again in a heartbeat...

only 'mods' I've made is a soft tonneau, stainless nerf bars, and spray-in bed liner... so far....... :D

I have an 02 ext cab 4x4 Larient with the 5.4. Only problem I have had with it and I bought it new in 02 is a spark plug blowout which is fairly common on late 90's and early 00's. Had to put a Heli Coil in. When the plug blows out it takes the threads in the head out with it. The problem is the head doesn't have enough threads in. Ford knows about it but refuses to take responsability for it. Do a search on Ford spark plug blowouts. I now have 68,000 miles on it and still have the original tires. Looks almost like it did when it came off the showroom floor. Been a great truck.

My dad has an 02 F250 with a 5.4 and had the same spark plug issue, but his didn't happen until just recently with over 200,000 miles on the truck. You're right, though. This is a common problem on the older 2 valve 5.4 engines. The new 3 valve motors (04 and newer) don't have the same issue.

I am in the car business and I love the '97-'02 models with the 5.4. I had a '97 model extended cab Lariat 4x4 that I bought with about 90,000 on it and sold it with 187,000. That truck was still bone dry underneath and very cold a/c. I never had any problems with it. The man that bought last year it is still driving it with no mechanical problems yet. I replaced a couple of 02 sensors but that is to be expected with that mileage. I just saw one at auction this morning, 2002 model crew cab 4x4 Lariat with the 5.4. It had 207,000 miles on it and still bone dry underneath. Even the leather was holding up well on the driver's seat. I like the newer body style but I like the older engine.

Thanks, guys. Found a great deal on an 07 Quad Cab Lariat. Sold, though. Was considering getting out of mine for it, but I'm having a hard time letting go of the Tacoma. I just need a wee bit more cab room.

I know what you mean. I'm driving a quad cab Dakota 4x4 right now with the 4.7 V8. Great mid-sized truck but I sure do miss the F-150:cry:

I LOVE my Tacoma. In fact it's still my favorite truck out there, I just regret getting an AC and not a Double Cab Longbed.

I would, but mine is paid for, and I doubt I could pull off a trade where I wouldn't enter into some more payments again. Unless someone wanted to trade me straight up:d Actually, my truck is loaded with everything, but the JBL sound system. It's worth a decent amount, but I'm not going to enter into payments no matter what.

you've got the best kind of truck in the world right now, PAID FOR... seriously, if you don't owe anything on it don't upgrade unless its broke... especially in the current economic conditions... liquidity is KING right now, stay out of debt for a while until things settle down...

I hear ya. I HATE payments...on anything. I know everyone has to deal with house payments when they own one, but I hate even the fact that I have to make house payments. At least a house is an appreciating investment (not always, but most of the time) whereas a vehicle is not.
