There is nothing moving around not even tweety birds. There is not even a breeze. The ThermaCell is cooking though, God bless it.

Your making me jealous. Our season opens Saturday. Full moon and rain predicted. I'll probably be in a tree anyway. Good luck.

I'm gonna be in the tree again Wed morning. If the gate is unlocked again I'm hitting another spot at the rear of the property.

Scooter, that's a real nice bow. I had a friend that had one just like it. He could shoot the hell out if it. It just never suited me well.
    Good luck and enjoy it.

Well I've been in the tree since 5:00 AM, first light was at 6:30. It's now 7:45 and so far it's been really quiet. The grounds and restaurant crew just showed up and opened the gate and drove in.
    The wait continues.

I just checked the camera at the rear of the property. There's the nicest buck of my life on it. Some does are moving through also. The rear is much better than the front. In the front there was 1 doe and 1 forkhorn. I'll post some pics later when I get home.

Our season opened Saturday. I sat a ladder stand about 300 yards from the house. Had 2 does and a yearling come in about 7:40. They skirted wide of the trail I was covering and eased by at about 25 yds. The biggest doe stopped between 2 trees with only her vitals showing. I made what I felt like was a perfect shot with my longbow. She tore out breaking limbs and crashing though a cornfield. I got down 1 hour later and found very little sign. What I thought was a double lung hit turned out to be a minor flesh wound. I spent 4 hours grid searching the corn rows and fence rows and am confident I must have hit her high above the spine. 1 small spot of blood 50 yards from the hit was the only sign found. I suspect I'll see her again fairly soon.

Spent the afternoon deep in the sloughs on some public land. No deer seen but a nice sunset on my way back to the truck. I work off mid nights in the morning and will be back at it for the next week. Good luck guys!

VA Bowbender you are gonna be our unofficial 12th man:-) I won't add you to the list but we are all enjoying seeing your updates and I think you should be considered part of this unofficial team.

Side note, the deer I call Buckaneer(cause he is blind in his right eye) is about half way through loosing his velvet. He is a 5x7 buck and is one of the 3 bucks that I will take if he walks out. I operate on a first come first kill basis with the 3 since I only get 1 buck here in KS:-)

Oh, okay you can add me as the 12th person. The las time I was on a team I got zero deer during the season. Yes now I'm superstitious. If I get skunked again it'll be on your head...lol.

In VA we get 3 bucks but where I hunt it EAB (Earn A Buck).

Prince William County except on Department of Defense (DOD) lands (including the cities and towns within). During a license year, it shall be unlawful to take a second antlered deer in Prince William County (except on DOD lands) prior to taking at least two antlerless deer in Prince William County (except on DOD lands), and it shall be unlawful to take a third antlered deer in Prince William County (except on DOD lands) prior to taking at least three antlerless deer in Prince William County (except on DOD lands).

I just built another set of arrows for my next hunt. Gold Tip 3555's from Big Jim's Archery and Bear Paw barred feathers from Kustom King Archery Supply, LaFond's Lightning's bought from a member here.
