hey guys, i've been quite for a while. Season starts next week! i'll be heading to the farm Thursday night, and hunt Friday morning for the first time. We have been getting some decent bucks on camera, so hoping one of them stop by. Rules changed in our area, and any buck we take has to be 4 points or more on 1 side. Not a bad rule, but our neighbors normally kill anything that moves, so we have more small bucks, than larger ones most years. As for what i'm shooting. last year i picked up an Athens Ridge 32. Loving it so far, smooth draw and nice back stop. i believe i have a ripcord rest, and a HHA sight. So ready for next weekend!
11 DAYS!!!! I’m going to be pissed if this weather changes just before season starts. It’s been damn near perfect here for early season hunting. Frost in some areas the last 4 mornings. I’ve been busting my butt the last few weeks trying to get some things done before season starts. Headed back home from storm work today. Working half day Friday and will be in the woods that afternoon and all weekend. Had some nice cool mornings at home from what I’ve seen. Hope they’re here to stay
My area of PA doesn't start until Oct 3 as well. Hoping to put down a doe. probably wont see my buck of choice until late Oct/Early Nov.
Got stands all set last weekend. Going to put out a scrape tree on in one location and try that this fall and see how it works out.
Will get rest of Blinds out this weekend and some scrapes and then will be as ready as I can get, we open the 1st.. Be careful out there, we had a 23 year old neighbor out checking stands last weekend had to be lifted out with a chopper after a old strap broke and he fell and broke his back checking his stands!!!!!!
Heading to the farm this weekend. Haven’t been there since I killed a turkey in April. Going to find where all the stands are, and get a game plan for the opener on 01OCT. Exactly 1week. I have a freezer full of venison and axis deer from my Texas trip, so I’m holding out for a mature buck, which I have never shot with a bow. Can’t wait!!!
In the tree now. Had 4 does browse through right at first light slightly out of range. Hoping more are to follow before the mornings over. Hunting all weekend either way.
My season officially starts a week from yesterday! And the best part is that my wife is going to apply for an apprentice license and take the safety course next year. i probably wont be able to get out till at earliest second weekend, but ill be sure to update when i am able to get in a tree.
the funny thing is, this my 7th year in the contest, this is the first time ive had the entirety of the originally assigned team check in.
