For those of you that have the GWW backstraps on a Summit climber, what do you use to teather the top section to the foot section?

Looking at buying a set. Some ideas please, thanks.

I've got my GWW straps on a Lone Wolf, so I can't EXACTLY help you... but I used to be on Summit's pro staff for several years and know their stands pretty well.

I always tethered the top half to the bottom half with that 1/2" wide or whatever it was green strap. I wrapped it around the two halves when they were snugly fit together, going around the arm braces and then snugging it down tight.

Not sure if that's exactly what you're asking or if it helps any?

Well that would work Greg. However I need that strap to secure the top section once I'm at my hunting height.

That doesn't mean I could not get another one.

I'm sure I could makeshift something but I'm looking for ideas as I'm pretty sure I'm not the first guy to do this with a Summit.

BTW, are the GWW straps worth it?

Brad, the GWW straps have definitely been worth it to me. Money well spent, IMO.

OK, so you say you need the strap when you're at hunting height... Help me understand more: Are you just asking about tethering them together WHILE HUNTING to prevent the bottom portion of the stand from slipping and falling down the tree while you're sitting in the stand?

I was reading your question as how do you keep the two halves joined together in transporting them while on your back... in other words, how to keep them snug and from clanging together while you're backpacking in and out of the woods... In that case, why would you using the strap while hunting have anything to do with using it to cinch the two halves together while transporting? Maybe I'm not reading your question correctly yet... :)

Yes, looking for something to stop the foot platform from falling while elevated. The green strap is used for keeping the two sections together while on my back and to keep the top section taunt while in the tree.

The stock shoulder straps act as the shoulder straps and when you are at the base of the tree you disconnect one end of them and connect to the foot platform to act as a tether. So if I get the GWW shoulder straps I won't have that tether anymore which I need.

You thought about something as simple as an extended piece of small rope? You could tie one end on securely, even crimping it down with something... and have a bungee-cord style hook on the other end so that once you took the stand off your back you could simply take that rope and connect the two halves, looping the rope around a piece of the other stand half and hooking it onto itself.

    Just my first thought...

    Greg,

Yeah I was thinking something along the same lines. I just need something is quick release on one end and won't make any noise. I was hoping someone who has done this will chime in with what has worked for them.
