Been getting pics of bucks cruising at night every night the past 4-5 nights. Going to set up the scent free tent today, start washing the camo, pick my 3 hunting arrows and put the nocturnals on and the hypos. Going to pull the fence off the plot this week. Next 14 days are what I wait for.
Awesome bro! Make it Happen!! I know what you mean bro. I am setting up on the lower field right off the creek. Adjacent landowner says he has seen some really big bucks walking the creek. I did some scouting and found 2 really nice deer crossings and lots of deer sign and trails. I hung a camera down there last week. This is going to be my Rut hunting spot for the next 2 weeks! Man I am So Pumped!!
I went from 0 bucks on my farm to four starting 10/21. They are certainly following the does! It won't be long now!
Well it went from me to just passing my time to hunt, it didn't bother me to read about others hunting I didn't miss hunting because it wasn't time yet. Well now that conditions are right it drives me nuts to not be hunting I guess I finally lost my patience. Going to spend today getting the gear ready, I can feel my neck starting swell.
Does are coming close to the yard and they were running thru the woods up by the road when I came down the driveway on the bike. I got pics of 2 young bucks fighting on trail cam last night. Chasing and fighting might have to sit Friday night.
I am starting to see a lot more movement during the day as well, it's time to start burning vacation days to catch the chasing and daylight bucks!
Just say the hell with it and hit the woods tonight/tomorrow... Can't ask for a better scenario with the front that just moved through!
Yep, I took off work tomorrow. I've been seeing more daylight activity and this cold front should be a nice kickoff to the weekend.
Nope I am sticking to the plan Saturday afternoon, I want to get this years hunt done in a day if I can and by waiting till Saturday I will have better odds, besides a few more days the older bucks will have had enough of the youngsters tearing things up.
As of last Sunday, I still don't have any daylight activity. I did go from having zero shooter bucks to 3 possible shooters. I have the does and I have food for the does, so hopefully the rut will be good to me.
Never usually my place is a night club and if I tried to sneak in the dark I would be pushing deer out. I am going to pull my chip shortly here so I will see if I missed anything yet.
The fence around the plot comes down tomorrow afternoon figure I will have a lush green spot for a week, hope I guessed the right week.
