Even veterans can benefit from tactics threads. It's not like every veteran here is dropping big bucks every year. In fact very few do.

The day you stop trying to learn is the day you should stop hunting.

That's not a very good outlook on "tactical" type threads. Do you not think MLB players talk about and work on fundamentals?

They stay sharp through practice in regard to the fundamentals, I doubt they spend a lot of time discussing how to catch a ball.

I'm not saying we've stopped learning Buck, just that past a certain level of experience we are generally self reliant when it comes to tactics of hunting. At least to the point of not seeking advice on a web forum. I'm sure many of us could recall and post stories of tactics we used to bag animals in the past but that just seems more like a brag rather than something useful as far as tactics on a forum.

I generally think of tactics threads as something like, How do I hunt this property or this buck has me at whits end what next, etc...I rarely find myself in that position when I need help and I expect few others here that are experienced do either. So that leaves it to the newer, more inexperienced folks to make those posts and when they do there are enough capable folks here that the problem gets worked out within a few pages. I'm not sure what type of tactic threads these were back in "the golden years" of this forum that needed umpteen pages to solve...

You don't have to get better, you need to have fun, find satisfaction and be a joy to those around you, weather they are strangers, friends or family.
SNS was none of that to any one but him self and his mirror.

The joy to Vito's wit, was that so many never felt the burn.

Enjoying myself is always the top priority when I'm spending time hunting, scouting, shooting, etc. I hunt with a couple of my closest friends for 1-2 weeks every November. Trying different strategies which I have not used before (which may increase my odds of success) helps keep it interesting for me each season...even if that just means trying a couple new stand locations or something.

    Trolling is cheating.

This thread is about fishing, right?

You can't just come back in here, make a post, and then leave. It's not nice.

    You're the new Bols.

Germ... is picking on you about that team up north considered trolling? I can't say much, my Buckeyes are looking fairly weak this year. My daughter is a sophomore at Ohio State and we have season tickets. My niece gets married this Saturday so I miss that game (at least the wedding is at 2:30 so I can be in the stand opening day), and her brother gets married two weeks later so I miss that game. But I will be at the game against the team up north!

You don't make the rules around here!

    Oh wait..nevermind.

I did in fact go hunting with my daughter recently and she was able to kill her first deer. She made a great shot and the deer made it 40 yards before dropping in sight.

It takes a big hat to fit all of that hair.

Not to try to start anything, but please tell me if I'm starting to troll. I don't know a whole lot, but I try to at least offer something to every conversation.

Side note- just so I'm clear, who is SnS?
