My brother and I took the trek south to work on the cabin. We put the last finishing touches on it for the season / winter. My uncle (who owns the cabin) said him and his neighbors had a bunch of big bucks running around this year. I didn't see pics and probably never will, so we'll see what he considers big.
We also got another stand up. It's in a great spot too. Riverbottom and funnel in one!

good and bad news. I smoked a buck but it has major ground shrinkage. I'm only supposed to shoot 130" and up. well this one isn't going to make 120". the land owner is a good friend if mine and he's not happy. cant hunt out there the rest of the year. Last 2 bucks I have taken (last years gun buck) have been under are 130 min.. pissed at myself. On a side note. when I shoot a doe I get a bonus buck tag and I get to hunt some public land I have been wanting to check out.

Hunting should be fun and be happy with your kill. trying not to loose sight of that. especially when you have a bunch of money each year invested in it from food plots, gear, minerals, cameras...

And another kick in the nuts was when I went back to pick him up out of the field. the big 10 point that I have pictures of was standing 40 yards away from my stand.

    I'll get him scored tomorrow.

The weather around where I live has started to drop a lot, and everywhere I go the deer are everywhere; across the road, in our backyard, so I think I will hunt that small 5 acres behind my house with all the deer tomorrow.

Hey guys, hope all is going well for you. I've been traveling for work. Currently in Kansas City. I can see where this could be some big buck country.

So pissed. Doe came in on a string. Played it perfect. Was able to stand up and draw without getting caught. Gave me a perfect broadside shot, and then jumped the string. Hit the deck so hard she made a thump and imprint in the dirt. Clean miss, better then wounding her any day. Will be out again next Saturday and sunday

Saturday is my opener. Can't wait.

Not going to get to elk hunt this year, so I took some pics of elk on Friday at RMNP. Almost as much fun. Certainly easier and less time consuming. I will try and post some up tomorrow.

    Come on Saturday......

Good luck to everyone already hunting.

Finally moved into new house and somewhat settled. We open up on Saturday. I promise I'll get more active for this team in the coming week. I got my gear smoked and checked one of my cameras. 1 picture of doe. I'll check my other camera this week and post the results. I'll be sitting in tree Saturday morning and hopefully have us 50 points at a minimum.
