My family and I have been after these two big public land bucks for 4 years now. They aren't the most impressive in terms of antlers but we have hundreds of trail cam photos of them and lots of sheds from them so we are hoping to capitalize on what we've learned about them this season. We call the buck with the tight rack and straight up brow tines Ice Pick and the mainframe 10 Curly. They have shown up together during the past four years. They rarely come through alone.
Here are some photos of Ice Pick and Curly last August. This spring we found two left sides from Ice Pick, one fresh and one from him the year before. I searched awfully hard to find the match but to no avail. My fiance found her first shed which was a side off of Curly and 20 yards later we found its match. We have the history, now we just need the bucks!!
Good luck, I will also be hunting some public and this coming year! I hope there are some bucks like these where I am going!
Really nice especially for public land. Just goes to show that even public land can produce and bucks can survive a very long time against the odds.
Thanks guys. I'm really hoping that someone in our family gets a chance at them this season. Good luck to you all as well.
Hey tbass, I'm currently working in Upstate NY for the summer. Where about are you? I'm in Diamond Point near Lake George
A big congrats! Putting all that history together and then tagging out on public land is an accomplishment for sure!
