Since getting my T3i I've wanted to use a DSLR as my main camera; I just didn't have the funds for the nicer lenses. So I decided to sell my Canon Vixia HF S100 and go with the Canon EOS-M so I can use vintage manual FD lenses (not great for photos with no AF, but fine for video). The EOS-M body was $250, and the FD 35-105mm f/3.5 lens and adapter were about $100. Not bad since I sold the S100 for about $360. I also have a Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 on the way for about $110. It should be good for low light (I'm also excited to try some star time lapses with it). I'm also eying up the FD 50mm f/1.4 (about $75) and 200mm f/2.8 ($100). I have a feeling these inexpensive lenses will get addicting.
I have toyed with buying an EOS-M for the past year once the prices dropped. Everything I am reading is that with the last firmware upgrade installed it is a great camera. I keep telling myself I don't need another camera, but man that thing is tempting.
<$40 Lens! Just picked up this Canon FD 70-210mm f/4. I got it for $12 + $10 shipping from KEH.com. It was listed as "Bargain" condition, but it looks great. The adapter was $15 off eBay. I'll be using it tomorrow night for some velvet filming on the backroads near the farm. It should be a nice lens for filming others in the fall as well. Gotta love these cheap manual lenses!
