Sounds like we will have the same set up. I went with the 10x42 great for the price and can't beat the warranty.

    That's what I'm thinking since it's only $10 more.

    For 10$ I'd definitely get the 10x.

I saw those tonight and didn't look through them. Might have to sometime.

I have the Vortex Viper HD 10x42s, and they are AWESOME! The blow my Nikon Monarch 5s out of the water in every aspect. I would definitely go with the 10x for an all around bino, it seems to be a good mix for me

Well my decision got tougher. I found a retailer online that has the 8X42's on sale for 189 and the 10x42 for normal price of 229. Is the extra magnification worth the 40 bucks? I have no experience with binoculars and I'm probably over thinking it.

I always lean toward 8x myself but have had instances where 10x would've been useful for sure....i might have a set of these before our trip:D

To me? Yes it is. I don't know what the terrain you guys will be hunting looks like. Where I hunt in CO there are long meadows that run from the top of the mountain to the bottom. I can sit at the bottom or top with my 10x an glass. Even with the 10x sometimes it's hard to see what a bull really has size wise. A spotter would be way better for me, but I'm not carrying that in there. That's the reason I like the 10's. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either but it's the 10x for me no doubt.

Lol. Vortex is MAP protected. Hopefully they don't get wind of the sale of there could be some rough waters.

Not necessarily. I would do a google search for feedback on the company though.

I did. Lots of good reviews as well as some bad ones. I'm gonna do a little more research on them before I pull the trigger. I think I'll be going with the 10×42's. I can't make up my mind so I'm going with the more powerful ones so I don't wish I had later.

If you can, go look at the two of them together. Try using the 10x's on something close (30-50 yards) using only one hand.

I'll try to do that. I live an hour from the closest dealer but I don't have to buy them yet. Good suggestion on that. I'll have to try that.

Vortex Diamondback 10X42. Great glasses that let a lot of light in. Nice storage case and neck strap too. Most of all, the warranty can't be beat. I think Vortex could charge twice as much for these glasses and still sell just as many. Also have a Vortex Strikefire scope that I really dig, same warranty too. Good luck with your choice.
