I'm getting ready to do the same for my girlfriend, I'm looking into the Bear apprentice line. I hear they are great bows for the money.

check out Cabela's Instigator (made by Bowtech/Diamond). Its crazy light and I tried and shot groups so small the sales rep asked me after shooting the vanes off the 2nd arrow, to please stop shooting the same target.

I would look at either the Mission Craze or the Infinity Edge. Both great bows for the price and perfect for beginners. Best thing you can do is take a day and visit a few pro shops(not big box stores) and let her shoot several different. After a few she will get a feeling for what she likes! Good luck!

    First...welcome to the site
Second... if you don't live too far from me [I see you're from NY] perhaps we can meet and make a deal.
Third... if too far away - I'd go with Fergie's advice (sorry Zedd... it's just me and big box stores).

I just got my wife a Mission Flare. She shot quite a few bows and chose it over many that were twice as expensive. It has a lot of adjustability, so she can grow with this bow. Plus it has some pink girly flare on it, what girl don't like that.

I get the big box thing. I tried to do the right thing and was turned off by the customer service at a Lewisville, tx bow shop, went to a Garland, Tx bow shop and am still learning how to tune it after the 'bow tech' there screwed it all up. I was looking at getting my sister an infinitey edge and shot one at Cabela's, the cable's were drawn partially into the sight picture. That is my main point of contention, and for me a deal killer.

I've got a bowtech Tomkat that I bought for my wife that I can sell since she doesn't use it. It maxes out around 53# and has adjustable draw. I think it's a 2007? I'd sell the whole shebang arrows quiver sight and rest. Not sure what its worth. Maybe 250?

I've got a Mission Menace that I'll sell you. It was my sons. I bought him a Creed for his Birthday. The mission weight and length is easily adjustable and it's a helluva bow. I'd sell for $200 plus shipping. With rest and sight.
