Looking for recommendations on practice targets for a compound bow. Bag? Block? Looking for something on a budget. Thanks in advance.
I had a block target that fell apart, so I rebuilt it in another cardboard box. Look up home made targets in the DIY section or on YouTube.
If your looking for something on a budget then make a target. I made one out of carpet this year and it has held up great. I cut the carpet 30"x11" and stacked it just like you see the foam stacked in a block target. then I took four 36in long pieces of 4x4 and put two on top and two on bottom and ran 4 pieces of 32in threaded rod up through them on the sides. We have shot this target a lot this spring and you can not even tell it has been shot. I also have a newer style block and the carpet target if far superior imo.
IRUTTOO I built one last July and I am shooting through it in several spots. I was hoping it would last longer than 7 months (I didn't shoot for 3 months due to an arm injury). I don't know if I will repair it or replace it with something else.
Did you try to tighten it down a little more? At first I was shooting through it and then tightened it down a hair and now it is perfect.
I've been pretty happy w/ my Black Block. Much better than a foam target, though I wouldn't shoot broadheads into it. Looking at a Rhino next.
It stopped them great until recently. It is just getting shot out. I have to either take it apart and replace the carpet or just go with something else.. I shoot almost every day and as many arrows as I can before my bad bicep gets tired. I enjoy shooting obviously haha.
I picked up 5 bag targets at a (craigslist posted) garage sale for $33 yesterday. Walmart.com has Buck Commander bags for $25 free ship on $50 orders
I shoot a lot. I have been through lots of junky targets in the last 7-8 years. Sometimes spending more once it better than spending less a few times. I recommend for FP a Morrell Elite bag (has 2 year warranty -$90 from Morrell - shipped) or a Block ($90?). Both should last a few years. Also BigGreenTargets "Stopper" is a good at $55 shipped. The 2 I had lasted me 1 1/2 - 2 years. For broadheads (and I have wasted lots of money on 6-7 others) get any Rinehart. I was stubborn and didn't think I should spend that kind of money. I picked up a new 18:1 locally from a craiglist at a reasonable price. After having the 18:1 for a year, I am sold on Rinehart. My next BH target FOR SURE will be a Rinehart RhinoBrute. I expect it to last me 5-6 years. I started saving my change just for it. FWIW - I saved change (never used any) for 2 years. I was shocked when I had $575 towards my new bow in March.
For field tips I just fill livestock feed bags with old rags and or more feed bags cheap and very easy to make. For broadheads I just have a cheap shooter buck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Fre
