Pretty much ALL multi pin sliders are that way with the exception of the G5 sights...If you have say a 3 pin Ascent or one of the Hogg series you set them like you would any 3 pin sight, say 20, 30, 40yds, then anything beyond 40yds you adjust the sight and just use the bottom pin.

Do you like the spot hoggs or MBG more?

Both have their strong points ... Spot Hoggs are built like a tank, probably one of the toughest sights made and seem to have old customer service... Honestly I think they are a little over engineered for a hunting sight honestly, little to busy for me with the steps you have to take to dial up yardage on them but they are tough.
Black Golds are a bit simpler design as far as adjusting yardage, and regardless of what anyone says Black Golds are brighter.
For me I like a well built sight with all axis adjustments and a bright pin in low light conditions, the Black Gold Ascent series fits that bill really well.

Thanks for the help. I may give MBG a try. Have been using spot Hogg for the next year

If I had a Hogg slider sight I wouldn't sell it for anyone else, but if a guy is looking the BG's are worth checking out

For discussion sake to all the people screaming HHA on here, how many other sliders have you used over the years "high dollar sights, not $30 pieces" and what makes your HHA better than everything else on the market ?

I had a Spot Hogg Tommy Hogg before my HHA and while I agree it's a great sight and built like a tank, I was never a huge fan of the lever that snapped in an out to allow me to adjust the wheel to change yardage. I had the 3 pin version and also wasn't a big fan of the individual pin adjustments - having to screw one out and one in to make the pin move seemed like twice the amount of work as it should have been. Also, it was a bit on the bulky side. The elevation bar that the sight rides up and down on is pretty big.

Not saying it's a bad sight, because it's most certainly not that, but having used both I would say I prefer the adjustment on my HHA better. My only complaint on the HHA is that the knob for the windage adjustment is a little tough to loosen if you tighten it too much. Also, I wish the etching marks were on the top of the windage bar, not on the front. Other than that I can't say a bad thing about it. The pin on my HHA is also much brighter than the wrapped pins on my Hogg.

I've never used a MBG but looked at them closely before getting my Spot Hogg. I've heard nothing but good things about them and I'm sure they're a fine sight.

Justin I'm right there with you on the Spot Hoggs with those complaints... The things you listed and the weight of them were what turned me off on the Tommy Hogg I had .

I love HHA sites. I have tried all of those and always go back to a HHA. I like the HHA with the wheel the best.

I would be willing to try a HHA again since they have the optional 3rd axis plate now... Before that was a deal breaker for me

Justin, before I moved to the single pin version of the HHA I had a 3 pin head and the windage marks were on the front so it was really nice. I was surprised when I got the single pin head in that it wasn't the same. I wonder why they changed that.

HHA makes an awesome sight. Built strong, easy to set up, and these sights perform in the field.
