I have a Mathews MQ1 that i want to repain and I'm not sure what color scheme to use. I want to still be able to hunt deer and turkey with it. I was thinking black limbs and riser with red details but I'm not so sure anymore. Any suggestions or anyone that has repainted ther MQ1s? Id love to see your pictures of your paint jobs!

Why would you want to paint your bow?

Because of 2 things. 1- it looks old and worn, as the bow is about 13-15 years old. 2- i dont like the TreBark finish to begin with

When I'm in doubt on colors, I always go with Lime Green and Burgundy!

Which is why I never am in doubt, lol!

Seriously, go get a quality dip kit and do it right!

If you can not afford to have it dipped. Try this company DuraCoat Firearm Finishes add the flex agent and you bow should come out terrific.

Depends on who you use. In most case it can be done for around $100 for just the limb and riser.

Ok thanks for the input. I think i night postpone the painting and save up to have it dipped. Also, do you have to tear apart te bow before you send it in?

Yes most dip companies require you to tear it down if not they charge you for it and ship it back unassembled

None close by. Maybe I can figure something out. I checked and i found a place that does hydro graphics thats not too far from me. They charge $200 for a complete job, $150 for just the riser and limbs. The complete job includes dipping the riser, limbs, cams, stabilizer, and quiver. Thats quite a bit of money, do you think its worth doing the whole thing? Also has anyone done this to an MQ1 before? If so could you post pics?

I was at walmart today and found some camo fabric tape. I bought 20ft and am putting it on the bow and it looks really good. Ill post pics when I'm done(before and after). I thought id try this because it costs under $12 to do! It takes time but is worth it. Im also planning on putting a clear sealer or something to seal the tape seams so it doesnt peel and so it doesn't feel sticky when you touch it

Here's the finished product! I think it turned out pretty well. I used nail polish hardener to seal the seams in the tape. image.jpg
