Looks that way Fergs !!! Only have 4 of us from last season checked in. That is not a big deal tho as the weight now falls on your shoulders !!! Not everyone gets he opportunity to be placed on the defining Champs team. What do you have on your plate for this season as far as tags?
Ya, not gonna get my hopes up to high. I have first season in NE Illinois. My property doesn't have many birds if any but I do get them flying over from across the highway! I will have camera out this week along the tree line where I have always seen lots of bird trails. Hopefully I will get a bunch on camera soon! I also put in for 4th & 5th Season in JoDavies Co in NW IL. Hope to hear very soon if I draw one or both of those tags. That property does have a lot of birds on it!
Alright hoping the rain holds off tomorrow morning so I can get out to my local spot and get out my cameras and do a bit of shed hunting!
Well monday night went out to the lease to see if I couldnt get a few of the predators. Ended up seeing a fox but couldnt get a good shot. Think I may set a few traps along the creeks. Yesterday I went for a little walk on some public land I hunted at the end of the season to see if i couldnt find two bucks sheds, no luck still have a lot of snow. Yes I blocked out the road names lol
What program is that your using? I have been looking for a good one but haven't found any I like yet. Looks like geaton32 was last on the site on the 6th. Hope he checks in soon. Who is the team captain?
Its called AllTrails, free and so far works pretty good I think. yeah hopefully he checks in soon. As far as captain it dont matter to me, whoever is up for it
Alright my first season IL tags arrived in the mail today! Still waiting to hear on a few others that I put in for!
Just found out that I got 4th season in IL for Jo Davies!! This will be my best chance and best spot to get a bird. I am really thinking that first season will be a bust. I am also going to put in the for the other seasons in Jo Davies so hopefully I will draw a few more tags!
Being the new guy added to the team I don't want to cause any trouble but geaton32 still hasn't checked in and Dubbya is going to be assigning alternates tomorrow. Has anyone Pm'd him or emailed him to see if he is participating again?
Welcome to the team Kyle! I am new to this team this season also but it appears that we are in good company being on the defending Champs team! Now we just need to repeat!!! What is your season going to look like?
Thanks Ferg. Thankfully I'm a member of a team that has such a good group of hunters. My season as of right now is full of question marks. I have tag for the first season here in Wisconsin which is April 16-22. This will be my first hunt during the first period. My group normally goes for the second season so I'm not sure what, if any, difference I can expect. I live in northern Wisconsin but hunt down near the west central part of the state. My guess is we will have snow in some capacity during my hunt. I have heard of some attrition to the birds near us due to the winter we are having. I'm hoping it isn't too bad where I hunt because populations have been decreasing the past few years as it is. I'm going to do my best though to put one down for the team!
Thanks Nick. I would say at least 2.5 feet. More in the woods. I tried doing some shed hunting a week ago and it was almost hip-deep still in the woods. Definitely taking a toll on the birds, but worse on the deer.
Alright I just put in for IL season 5 on my lease in NW IL. Can't wait to get a response on that one now too!
This should be another good year. We have more Toms on our farms than we have for a long time. Thinning the yote population over the years is definitely helping. Welcome to the team guys and good luck to all. Looking forward to seeing some birds down soon.
Yeah we are starting to finally get good melts, besides yesterday we kept getting dustings of snow. Good luck hopefully you get it I have been slacking on our yote population this year. Think I still may go set a few traps along the creek on my lease. Every day going to and from work I pass a park and usually will a few deer on the golf course, today there was about 50 deer then a group of about 20 birds with a few strutters. Was nice to see the first strutter of the year.
