    I didn't know we had those in Virginia. I have never seen one. This is behind my house . Mot much woods at all. IT would be cool if it was.

    I doubt a coon would be hanging out with a fisher and I don't think they have them in Virginia either. I can't tell...my "guess" is it's just another coon.

    I say its a fox as well. 2nd pic, look at how high the ears stand above the head.
    I've seen fishers/martins up close, and while the coloring is about right the ears are too big. Plus, I don't know that a coon would stand for a fisher/martin to get that close, as they're like weasels - they'll prey on animals many times bigger than themselves. That coon would likely end up as dinner. Fox are more timid and usually only go after smaller animals.

    I killed a red fox back there in October. I have seen greys. I have never seen a Wombat. In the first pic it looks like its sitting like a cat facing away from the camera. In the second one with it facing it kind of looks like a fox but not sure. To me the second pic looks nothing like another coon.

    i think its a fox, i have videos where the animal looks like this and when they turn you can really tell.

    only way it would be a wombat in america is if it escaped from a zoo.....


    but that is what popped into my head first though, they are cute little things.

    Doesn't look big enough for a fisher. Plus the ears look too big.

    I'd say a young red fox.
