TOTALLY new to compound archery. I was looking at field points today and I noticed they come in various weights and shapes. I have an understanding of the weights, but is there any reason to choose one shape over another?

    Thanks!

No. I generally go with a "easy pull" design just because they are more streamlined looking. They pull out the same as any other and have the same POI.

I get the bullet shaped ones over the sharp pointed ones. Get less bag penetration and are much easier to remove so long as you get them the same diameter as your arrow shaft. Bigger than the shaft diameter and you will have difficulty pulling it out of the bag fabric/stuffing.

No real difference. Just make sure if your going to shoot a 100g 2-Blade Rage that you buy 100g field tips. So your shooting the same weight field tip and your broadhead. I was such a noob when I started I learned that the hard way.

one difference is the bullet-shaped ones are less likely to bust nocks, Robin Hood, and and otherwise ruin shafts.
Sure, it's cool the first few times, but at $10-15 per shaft the cool factor goes away real quick.

I was wondering the same thing. I have both and use the bullet shape on bags. I think I am going to use the sharper pointed ones for a 3D shoot coming up.

The bullets are easier to pull from foam. I think they are a little more durable. The pointed ones are easier to mess the tips up on.
