    Hey guys
Finally saved my pennies up. Been hunting anything that can be taken with rifles & shotgun since I was little. Dad's hooked into bow hunting and has finally pushed me into the jumping in with you bow folks- ( and now I can stop driving past the bow range down the road from me)
    So,
With zero experience using a real hunting bow,
I need a whole setup- practice arrows, broad heads , compound bow, sights.... Etc. I've got 600 to drop on it now, but ill go up to 1k for a good complete setup.

I'm looking for general price ranges here-
Arrows, including "kill" and practice ones to break & learn on

Bow- any ones to steer clear of? I've learned with firearms just to suck it up and buy the best one you can find, or risk stupid problems / replacing broken parts/ getting injured with a catastrophic failure.
I'll gladly wait another couple months to get a bow that'll last as long as I can still manage to draw it. That being said, I know the most expensive is rarely the "best"...

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Can't wait to get out there and get hunting!

I'd say go to your local archery shop and just test shoot as many bows as you can. Make your choice based on feel, most bow companies now days put out decent products

Haha yeah I'm just worried because my local shop is Bass Pro- which while they do have some good stuff, they've got that wal-mart feel to em with 17 year old minimum wage kids reading their upselling scripts...

I'll find a real shop soon but that's good to know.
So there's really no bows that are a total waste?
What puts the real expensive ones apart from say a 200$ bow with the same draw & speed? Weight?

No one can truly say what you should buy.
    I shoot:
    Mathews MR5
    QAD Rest
    Spot Hogg Site
    Easton Axis 9.5 GPI 340s

You need to shoot the bow you are interested in. Your bow should pick you, mine did.

If I were in your shoes, I would find a top of the line bow from a few years back and buy it used. You can find fully setup Mathews, Hoyt, PSE for around $6-$700 easy including other bows.

Athens Testament, 29.5" draw, 60lbs draw weight.
    7 pin spot Hogg sight.
    Shoots fast and pulls smooth!

Now just to point it at a critter.
    After I break it in...
    And set the sights...

Oh also buy my own arrows...

Well, your HOOKED NOW! Enjoy your rig and shoot good safe arrows, inspect your arrows often and shoot the strings off that bow!
    Good Luck this year.

Holy crap. Fresh off the shelf this thing was sighted nearly perfect!
    Bullseye at 20, 30, 40.
50-80 yards hit to the right, only had to adjust the 70 & 80 yard sight pin.
Mad I ran outta daylight to shoot I'm hooked now
