Out of place I know but........her Mom and Dad calls saying they are sick and are sure its from some bad hamburger they bought at a grocery store. She told them we have been eating a lot of deer burger and have not been worrying about getting sick from it.

20-30 years ago I would have never heard her say such a thing as she didn't care much for wild game back then. To be honest I or we have never became sick from eating wild game that I took.

Ha, store bought food is so chocked full of crap that the thought of it is enough to make me not feel well. A friend of mine shot a wild hog on one of the local farms a couple weeks ago and I asked him if it was good eating. He said he didn't eat it but just buried it because he had heard they were dangerous to eat due to disease.

Well I looked around online and all I could find was a bit that said to be sure to cook it to 160F, just like any other meat you buy in the store, lol. One article said wild hog was less likely to be diseased than captive raised pork. I wouldn't doubt it...I'm going to have to go over to that farm and open season on a few of them pigs me thinks.

I am in a similar boat, within my household, only my stepson and i are the only ones who eat venni, my wife despises for reasons beyond me. I have a 3 yr old (Bodi) who i am getting him to eat it but for the life of me cannot get the ol lady to do so. I aleays tell her wouldn't you rather eat something that has ran free it's whole life rather than something that has been caged up? CM, i hope my wife will eventually become acclimated to it, but for what it's worth, congrats.

I bet she will in time. Now we even use it by itself(deer burger) in spagetti sauce, meatloaf, etc. and she likes it.

Go by a processing plant only once and you may be repulsed by processed hamburger forever.

That's awesome, my wife is the same way. She doesn't want to eat any sort of processed meat. Just too many unknowns that happen at processing plants.
