I am considering heading to Kentucky this fall to do some hunting. Does anyone have any advice on when to go? I'd like to catch the rut so I'm thinking the first week of Nov, but I can't find much information on the general timing of the rut in KY. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

It started around the 2nd week of November, in SW Ohio, this year.

The first week of Nov is pretty close IMO, at least that's my favorite time. You get much later and you'll run into slob season.

Sounds like the first or second week will be best. Is the last week of October too early? Usually the hunting where I'm from will start heating up that week and it's a chance to get a jump on some of the bucks.

I killed my buck in late November and the bucks were chasing pretty heavy. This year was an odd year for the rut, I started seeing some activity from smaller bucks late October but then halted for a week or so. Typically I start seeing rut activity around Halloween here in KY so end of October and first of November should be a good time to hunt.

The last week of Oct isn't to early in my opinion but I think that time really depends on the weather as to how much daytime movement you'll see.
What part of KY are you thinking of heading to?

In my opinion your best chance at a good buck is the first week of the season in September

Last week of Oct first week of Nov for pre rut activity. This year we were staying about 35 miles from where we were hunting and it was crazy all the lone bucks we seen running around on our way back in the evenings. First day we seen bucks actually dogging a doe was the 9th of Nov. Cant help you on where to go in eastern Ky, we always hunt the west side, but good luck.
