Anyone else just sick of the show....the Hoffman's in perticular? Everytime I seem to turn to the show, I either get A.) The Hoffman's are complaining about the lack of gold they have. or B.) The Hoffman's are giving their crew false hope that they have finally hit the "fricken motherload" only to be dissapointed in the end. I don't know what it is about the show but it just rubs me the wrong way.
I havent watched since I tuned in and seen them in some jungle. I really just watched for the views of Alaska. Also showed me either a) they are greedy and were going for more which they couldnt even handle what they were already doing, or b) the producers were starting to stage the show to much. When the show first started it was a cool idea and made me want to go for gold. When they started doing to much, I lost interest.
I still enjoy the show. Todd Hoffman is a dreamer, and I admire that about him. He's not necessarily good at what he's doing, but at least he had the stones to chase his dream. I think the move to the jungle was dumb, why would you leave a good thing. My only guess is an attempt to keep the show relevant. They still have plenty of Alaska in the show with Parker and Fred.
Todd Hoffman is by far the most annoying personality on any Discovery/History channel show out there in my opinion. I loved watching their crew in Alaska; jungle, not so much.
Still watch the show but like OP, tired of the Hoffman's and their crew. I feel they really play for the camera whereas the others (Parker and Dakota Boys) are doing it for the thrill and dream of hitting it big. I use the Hoffman segments to go get a drink or a bathroom break.
I would like to punch todd a few times, his old man too. I only watched a few episodes of season 1 before i was done with that show.
My friends and I played a drinking game to gold rush once when we had to drink (just a gulp of beer) every time someone said fricken, or glory hole. Got pretty drunk.
