I am a United States Marine Corps Poole. My ship date is 9/22/14 although it will most likely be sooner, MOS 03XX (Infantry).

A little bit of a late start at 24, but it's always something that's been in the back of my mind. Needless to say I'm pumped!

Congrats and good luck. The Maryland deer population should get a bump over the next few years.

Other populations will suffer ... Whatever liberty I have will be spent killing whatever species are in season.

congrats....and THANK YOU!! 24 is a great age to join! you will most likely be more mature than some of the other younger marines, making you a natural leader! I joined the army when I was 22. you will remember these years your whole life, stay positive and you will have a blast!!!!!

Hey good luck. Hope you know the real deal and talked with some Marines before you talked to a recruiter. If you need any insight PM me. Currently been in 7 years on active duty. You should go to PI SC then 10 days boot leave then SOI East for a coupel months then you will be assigned a unit. 03 is a slow promoting MOS too if you didnt know. Great training. You will have fun with SIM rounds too. All you should know before you leave is the rank structure and your general orders. Make sure you are running too at least 3 times a week and pushing like crazy. You will spend alot of time in the pushup position.

Yessir, I talked to a couple friends in infantry I did not just chose it, it leads to other secondary things I am set on. My pull-ups/sit-ups are already at 100 just need to bring my 3 mile run time down currently at 23 ish. I'll be starting out E2 so that helps, but I have the drive and intangibles to be successful.

Cool man! You will have more time for yourself than you think once you get through training. Like Slugger said, start training now and it will make it all the easier, not easy, but easier. The better shape you are in thats one less thing they have to mess with you about. Stay motivated, strong minded, and constantly do your best.

Off to a great start. Just make sure you dont kip on your pullups otherwise they wont count them. Recruiters will though to push you through but DI's won't. If you can work on doing planks on all your sides for at least 2 mins a piece if you can work up to it. Wish I had done more of that before going. After you stand on the foot prints late at night they will bring you in a large room with bins and scream at everyone for hrs and be awake until very late at night. Don't bring anything with you. I would leave it all at home. Don't go wearing a motto shirt either or anything military or they will single you out. When your told to move you need to move with intensity and with a purpose. This will all come into play when told to do something in combat and someone doesnt move with intensity this is how Marines die. Good Luck Semper Fi, Stay motivated. First year or so will be tough. Fun from then on when you get the hang of things.

Outstanding Finny. You are going to be successful for many reasons but for the short time we hung out I noticed a few things.....attention to detail, physical fitness, and a positive attitude even when you are tired.

As for the running, you are young and the perfect height/weight to be an outstanding three mile runner. Make the running thing simple. Keep running hard and just change up things slowly in the form of running 400-800 yard repeats. Do those 400 to 800 yard repeats hard just once a week in addition to your other running and your three mile times will drop fast. Thats all it will take.

GOOD luck and thank you for your service bud.
