Very sad day. Thoughts and prayers to your family. I've known David for a lot of years through these forums. He is a true legend and a great man. We've never met but spoke several times. This is David's son Dixon again. We've finalized funeral arrangements and I wanted to share here as several people have asked.

There will be two services. The first will be on Monday, Dec 30th in Oneida, NY at Campbell-Dean Funeral Home (2-4PM visitation, 5PM service). The second will be a graveside service on Saturday, Jan 4th at 12PM in Americus, GA. Additional details are posted at the online obituary links provided below, which also include options for leaving remarks, sending flowers or donating to one of two charities in Dad's name (Disabled American Veterans or V Foundation for Cancer Research).

Good man. We've lost him in the physical, but won by knowing him.

Forums are user friendly and soft now, and David would still push the envelope anyway. He had some great stories, and great pictures as well. I really like BH.C...but I wish I could go back several years to huntingnet...and have David and GMMAT go head to head one more time, only way it could get better would be if big Tim dropped a line, we wouldn't know what the hell he was talking about but it would be funny. RIP David

I just returned from being out of the country for Christmas and missed this news.

I am so sorry to hear of David's passing. He was an American hero and I am sure, much, much more to many people. He had a spry wit and pulled no punches. I respected him and loved looking at his pictures and reading about his adventures in the military. Blessings to his friends and family.

I realized i'm a couple weeks late on this, but still wanted to post. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. I've never met David in person but remember him going back to the early HNI days. He always had a unique way of expressing himself and one that I enjoyed. My condolences to you and your family
