Deer heart from my doe this morning!! I love eating heart. The heart is my favorite thing to eat out of any critter I shoot. My daughter even likes it.

I coat it with fry magic and throw it in some grease and fry it up. I also put a sliced onion in it always too and fry that with the heart. So good!!

Heart would be something new to try for sure. What is it comparable to?

    It's delicious!

I just read in a deer book (I'm new to the sport) that's it's traditionally served the first night at deer camp, from the first deer taken.

First thing I cook as well. I like to pull the inside tenders and the heart and cook in a gravy over toasts, biscuits or rice. I often cook these while the deer is still hanging... before I butcher.

Also great with peppers and onions in a sandwich, as in Philly cheese steak.

I don't kill chickens to eat the gizzard and I don't kill deer to eat the heart :D But I have done both, not bad but it's not backstrap.
