You can find some used bows in pretty pristine condition. Look on craigslist or check out your local shops. Last time I was in Scheels they had a used z7 extreme tactical for $550, z7 for 450, and a Heli-m for 600. I got the Heli-m and dont regret it one bit. There are plenty of people selling them on craigslist as well. Just after I bought my Helim a guy on craigslist sold a Creed fully decked out with sights, stabilizer, arrows, release, and a really nice SKB case for 800.
I agree...I buy most all my PSE's from American Archery on there. I just call Russel's shop now..lol. I got my 2013 PSE Revenge for $589 shipped to me. The local shop wanted $720 out the door for it.
I have a bear and I've been very pleased with it. Buddy of mine who is a pro staffer for hard core decoys asked the same question to a guy who shoots competitively all over the country. I believe he shot for Matthews or Hoyt. Don't know his name. He said the average person isn't going to dial in their bow as well as he can and the higher end bows aren't going to make a huge difference for most people. He said they would shoot better, but most people would be better off not spending the extra money. He said several companies make good bows now, but if he was going to buy a bow for around $500 which was my friends original question he would buy a Bear. My buddy knew I shot a bear and told me for that reason. I have a friend that absolutely loves his Elite bow. I would personally look at Elite and Bear. Elite has great customer service if ever needed.
Craigslist or Ebay ... Was all set to buy a used Hoyt on Craiglist.. fully loaded ... dude jerked me around for a week before deciding he was gonna keep it.... I looked on Ebay --- found a Dealer Prepped and fully loaded (sans arrows )'09 Kobalt .. took it to a local shop for a look over and a tune up .. had more dust on it from sitting on a shelf, maybe had 2 dozen aroows thru it ... even after the tune and the arrows, I still paid less than 5 benny's
The one that fits you. For me it is a Mission Ballistic. Of course i am looking at at Matthews Monster. Don't tell my wife. RC
Elite's warranty follows the bow making it well worth the money to buy used. for new bows the hoyt charger is awesome, basically a revamped alphamax. The mission bows have some incredible offers. i think the mission riot is an amazing bow to start with. dont forget Bear, Diamond, or PSE mainline bows either. Shoot everything you can and let the bow choose you.
I just came from Bass Pro with with a new PSE Stinger 3G for $219. It was marked $299 but rang up as $219 on sale. Got a dozen carbon arrows, release, peep sight, stabilizer, Tru Glo 5 pin sight, field tips, all put together for $525. Remember when pricing a bow, all the other stuff you need is going to raise the price at least half again.
