Me and my son went out yesterday afternoon for a little tree time. I thought with the cold temps and odd white stuff on the ground they would be moving early....and he was begging me to go. I was right,we both shot a deer! This is my sons SECOND archery deer of the year. He spent all of gun season toting his bow, determined to shoot another one with it. Even when all his buddies were shooting deer with a gun he hung in there with his bow. Well today it finally happened for him again. He shot his deer at 15 yards. We had deer all around us and he really had to pick his time to draw to be able to get a shot and not spook everything else. He did great. It was COLD, temps around 20 with a 10-15 mph north wind put the wind chill in the single digits but he hung in there and was rewarded for it. He hit it a little far back,in the last few ribs so I let it sit for a hour and we went and got my deer first to give his some time. There was a dead deer at the end of the blood trail for him. Talk about an excited 11 year old! I'm sorry about the crappy pic but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
Awesome job! I wish I had a dad to teach me this stuff, I envy your son. Great job passing down a tradition and a skill as well as spending time with your kid. Oh the deer look great too! Can't believe I live in Wisconsin and we have no snow, and your in Kentucky and the ground is covered lol.
Now that's getting it done. Big congratulations to you both and that son of yours has the makings of a real bow hunting legend. Great way to share stories at school with all his buddies that got theirs with a rifle. I am not one for bragging but this young man is worth bragging about! Enjoy the harvest!
