    Lol, sorry.

    It's a 3/4hp grinder

No jerky slicer, put a tip roast in the freezer as well as some other sections of lean muscled and sliced with a good sharp knife. I used to use ground for it and a jerky gun. Still turned out pretty good. A slicer is on the Christmas wish list though. Want one for jerky and to smoke roasts and slice into deli thin roast venison. Steaks are easy enough to hand slice.

The smoker is a basic Bradley electric. I can't remember right off hand what I paid for it, but I also bought and auber Dual probe PID for it. Allows me to control the box temp as well as monitor the meat internal temp simultaneously. Also allows me to turn the smoke generator on at two different intervals during the whole cook. It gives you a lot more control over everything than even the digital version of Bradley smoker.

This jerky I just put on basic dehydrators from wal mart. I wanted to cold smoke them first to infuse some smoke flavor before puttin in the dehydrator but I should have started curing it on Thursday rather than Saturday. Just didn't have the time to do it.

Here's a few of the smoker set up when I did pulled pork a few months back. Still need to get a cabinet built.

I think that is what we paid in the 1990's. I think it would be worth the money to drive to Indiana.

I hadnt taken a deer to a butcher in over 10 years until this year. It had gotten too expensive here in Virginia, however the PA butcher only charged $58. I got 40-50 lbs of ground venison and 20-30 lbs of steaks. I was happy and it was simple, plus the butcher did a much better job than I could ever do and the meat tastes better.

I have a processor maybe 5 miles from my lease. They charge $62 and it includes gutting. It's so close and so cheap it's a no brainier for me.

The meat tastes better? You prefer the butchers meat over your own?

The meat is mine, the butcher just cuts it up.

Ill make it simple. I killed a deer. The butcher cut it up. Butchers are experts at meat processing and I am not. Hence, to me, the meat tastes better and the cuts are great.

So you are saying that you are only 1/2 a hunter that prefers the butchers meat.

That's the dumbest thing I've heard. I raise a beef (of our many cows)and have the butcher process it too....does that mean I'm 1/2 a farmer?

Brett, SnS thinks he's being funny. He thinks he's a comedian, but his attempt at stand up and sarcasm fails miserably. I think the crowd is getting close to booing him off stage.
