Nah we just like screwing with ya. We know the score will get posted eventually but whats a team if ya can't give each other a hard time every now and then. I have had buddies "Help" me cut up deer before and the only help they provided was making sure the beer tasted good. LOL!

We have only had an issue with meat freezing once. It froze and thawed a coulple time so we just had the entire thing ground into burger.

I hear ya. This deer should still be frozen when I get there. I'm going to grind up 90% of it anyway. Back straps and inner loins get made into steaks but the rest will get ground up in my kitchen probably tomorrow night.

This guy helping me is actually really good. He's faster than I am...but he's been hunting for 35 years. I enjoy the help though it's really the company I enjoy most. We talk about hunting mostly but life in general. He's a good mentor for me. Like a father figure. I'm 32 and still learning things everyday. One of my two sons is 9,, next year he'll be there helping too.

Hunting for me is more about the entire experience. Putting in the hours, being alone in the woods with your thoughts, trying to "figure out" the deer...being away from family, and then the joy of a successful hunt, the bonds that grow with friends over something as simple as recovering a deer or butchering one.

So I may not be a trophy hunter or run to get the measuring tape after I shoot a good buck but I don't blame those that do. I've been blessed with some great success the last two years, and honestly it has nothing to do with the antlers.

Its funny how the wife can do that from time to time. Mine lets me win every once in awhile but not very often LOL! At least she knows Hunting was part of the "Joe Package" she got when she married me and she doesn't try to mess with that.

Yep, My wife knows that October first through Dec 6th is "my time" and she doesn't complain much.

One year shortly after we started dating I had just come back from my third sit of the year and she asked me why I hadn't shot one yet.

I just shook my head and told her "I'm working on it".

She understands more about hunting now than she did back then. :)

My wife is from the Chicago suburbs she came down to the U of I for school. Now she lives in a small town of 450 people. Needless to say it has been a culture shock for her. LOL!!!

Whats even better is my In-Laws decided they wanted to retire away from the city so thats how we ended up with the place in Indiana. The bad thing is they really don't know much about "Country living" so I have had to educate them on how things are away from the city life.

First off Bud Light is terrible. We are a Miller/Coors family.
I can't get her to even go swimming in a river let alone wash clothes in a creek. LOL! It was really the little things that blew her away when she moved in with me. I still remember the first time she saw me burning leaves. She freaked out cause she thought that I was gonna get a ticket and get in trouble. The one that gets me the most is anybody who grew up in the country knows that in the spring you get ants sometimes. Not a big deal you just kill them and be done with it and in a couple weeks they stop coming in. Oh no not my wife, She swore there was something wrong with our old house and we needed to move because it was infested. She had the pest control guys come out three times!!!!!!! She is a special woman.....but at least she's pretty.

+1 on Bud light being terrible. If I want to drink water, I'll do it out of the tap.

In fact, I like Busch Light better and it's not even that good. Miller is good, Blue Moon, Sam Adams, and most wheat beers are good.

In my younger days....I am only 29 but it seems so long ago. I used to work for a Miller Coors beer distributor when I was in college. I was a draft specialist my job was to go help fix or install draft systems in bars. I also coordinated the U of I tailgates that used any of our beer trailers or any party for that matter that used one. It was a pretty awesome job. I used to also build kegerators on the side for friends and I never had to pay for a cup at parties which was nice. Point of the story is we used to distribute Blue Moon and I had it on tap in my apartment when I was single. I also lived on a golf course....sometimes I don't know what spell my wife put on me to get me to give all that up. LOL!!!! :whip:

I'm new at scoring and I didn't think you could have an H4 Score on a buck that doesn't have a G4...

    is that wrong?!

Circumferences are taken at the narrowest place as detailed in Figure C for each measurement. If the brow point is missing, take H-1 and H-2 at the smallest place between the burr and the G-2 point. If the G-4 point is missing, take H-4 halfway between the G-3 point and the tip of the main beam

No problem... Was just going through the posts to update the unofficial top 10 post. Might be of value to work all the numbers again just to make sure!

I'll go over all of them again. I did them twice last night so I'm confident in the numbers I have but, I will have my wife help hold the tape tonight just to make sure. Thanks again. He's the best deer I've ever shot. :)

Ok guys. After double checking all my measurements and adding the h4 measurement as well as the abnormal point off his left g2 he came in at 138 3/4.

Can't complain about a 138! On a little worse note doesn't look like Imma get to hunt much more since I'm now working 60+ hours a week and weekends. I was hoping to hunt today and tomorrow but I was told to work today and a mandatory meeting tomorrow! Maybe tomorrow afternoon ill get out.

Anyone go out this weekend? I personally had no chance to between work yesterday and today and the storms after i got offf i had zero chances! All i want to is let some arrows fly at some deer. It seems the rut may still not be in full swing on the farm yet or it was extremly quick and noone noticed it. There has been no reports of any buck chasing or tending yet. Although i did see a buck chasing a doe friday evening in a field owned by Abbot up the road from my house. No chance of getting permission to hunt that. although i know there is a 200+ inch buck imma hoping tries to cross the road in front of my truck! i almost got him last year but he wouldnt commit to crossing!
