I almost had 50 more points for us. Spiker walked by me no more than 5 yards away… on the wrong side. I'm right handed so my left arm is my bow arm, he walked up on my right side. I had a couple spots behind me but there was too much brush in the way. Huge body for only being a spike.

Polecat, That first trail cam pic is a real nice one... Outside his ears and tall, nice. The second is a good looking 10 as well but he doesn't look as wide or tall. The first 2 I'd say are shooters in my book.

Hunted for 9 hours today. Got skunked. Coyotes are so thick. Also hit a deer with my truck on the way home.

Death by truck probably doesn't count for points, but it's not a gun kill so you could always ask. Just put an arrow through 'em and call it a day. Hope you and your truck are ok.

Well, went out and got a climber for hunting the public land around me. It was going alright, started to descend the tree, and the bottom twisted on me. Had to jump out from around 10 feet up. Was not a fun experience, and because I'm an idiot, I will be taking the climber back and won't be using them lol.

Crazy/long/exciting/disappointing day. Started off with a coyote that came in. I switched arrows when I seen him coming, I'm tired of wasting expensive rages on those mutts. Messed around and didn't even get a shot. Had a 120ish 8 pt lick the tree I was sitting in. Later this evening I rattled in and shot at an 140ish 10 pt @ 20 yds. Hair trigger on the release went off a little to soon. Wasn't even ready to shoot. Clean miss. Kind of a long story but I did everything wrong once he stepped out. Got it all on video though. I will try to upload it tomorrow. Still had a great day.

That sucks griz. Hope you're ok. Tough luck MMG. Bow season's over here until mid-December, so I'm out until then. Good luck guys, keep at it.

Hey grizz, I love my climber, but would never go up any tree without a harness on. Not even my ladder stand. What model climber did you get? Climbers give you a lot of versatility, just make sure you bring something like a "rope style treestrap" by HSS or something similar to slide up the tree ahead of you. Always stay connected.

Oh yeah, safety is my number one priority. Only reason I took my harness off was to jump. Didn't really know how to get down other than jump lol. The bottom of the stand twisted sideways on the tree, so the platform was off to the side. I had a summit open shot. I think I am just going to practice with it some more. I watched the video that came with it, and thought I had it down when I went up and down the tree in my yard, but watched the video again the next day and realized the stand was too loose against the tree. I need a climber or similar because I hunt public land most of the time. My land is 2 hrs away, so I don't get there often.
