Thats true, if he makes it that far. You have brothers that could shoot him or neighbors.

No hate here just stating facts. With the rut coming up he very well could end up dead somewhere else.

Now I hope that doesn't happen to him but...

I ask that you all say some prayers for a great friend, Pontiac Police Department, friends, and family! We have lost one of our best City Officers and his K-9! RIP my friend! You will be missed. He was doing his job when he was wrecked last night!

So sorry to hear that Dawg. I read it this morning and had no idea that they where in your department. Many prayers will be sent to the family, friends, and the PD.

I will try. Some of these bucks are working their way through right at shooting light so hopefully one will do that tomorrow.

I'm going to have a prayer request too guys. The girl I've been seeing got into a farming accident tonight. Got her arm caught in an auger and lost it up to her elbow. My hunts will be put on hold.

Dawg, sorry for your loss........that sucks.

My last few times out provided good news and bad news I guess..........could go either way. Sat on fall plot first sit and at 5 PM I hear from 100 yards across plot a scrape being made.....dude is just tearing it up. The dark body appears and I know a buck is approaching but I had no idea which buck. He picks his head up and no lie I turned away into my tree to take a deep breath and calm down telling myself play times over focus and get your shat straight. I look back and he is nothing short of a deer of a lifetime in NY. As he stood sideways all I could see was one antler he was such a beautiful mirror image of symmetry. Then he looked my way and he was wide enough to push 150 as a 10.......mass was good not great so 140-150 with magazine cover looks with a spotlight bright throat patch on a dark dark brown coat. He scans plot and with my lousy luck no does out nibbling. He begins to leave skirting plot edge so I hit the grunt and he snaps his head around ready to destroy the origin of that sound.......again he sees nothing so off he goes. One more grunt and he does the same but this time leaves for good.

Next night comes and I am in my summit ready to ambush him if he decides he likes that route again. I am in TIGHT, it's kill the beast or likely see nothing. At 4:55 PM I hear steps coming right to me and my heart is pounding like a jack hammer as the shadow materializes in my lane as a basket 8.......not my bruiser. Aghhhhh!!! The rest of the night I watch deer from a ways away go in and out of our plot and near 6 ish as darkness first begins to take hold I see a big body moving along the neighbors land and he gets into sight and shows he is no slouch either. An 8 pushing 130 ( not real wide ) but man a solid buck for sure. He looked at a grunt and then said see ya later buddy into the pines he went.

3 sits, 2 shooters with one being a SLOB. Add that to the trail cam photos of the 140's 10 I showed earlier who started showing up at 4 am.......then 1 am and now 10 PM and we have 3 legit targets that could head down the trail on any given sit.

We are stoked. Someone is going to put down a big boy on our land this year I can feel it. Of course I hope it's me but honestly my oldest brother and my dad are who I'm rooting for. I would love to see them tag a bruiser.

Could have killed about 4-5 big does but they all have little milk mustaches with them so no luck for me yet in that dept. I just can't even reach for the bow when I see the little dinks bopping around. Getting old I guess.

One more day of work then it's HARDCORE from the 2nd--16th for me. 28 hunts in or around the rut to get it done.

    I like my chance :)

Good luck to all and be safe.

OMG Kroh, I didn't read your reply. Prayers to all of you.

Nothing like some down to earth perspective to smack you in the face and realize how many other things in life are more important than chasing over grown rabbits with bows.

Go take care of your girl man. Hoping for the best of a bad situation.
