Although I didn't see a shooter on stand I had a great weekend! I stayed at deer camp with my boy, his pal and my nephew all around 17-18 years old. My son passed up a spike Saturday night. Even though he’s hasn’t killed a buck with his bow he said he'd rather shoot a doe. His buddy shot his first buck with a bow a 5pt. My boy and he were ecstatic! You would have thought he killed a monster!

My nephew saw what he called a GIANT! He said he couldn't stop shaking afterwards. It was great watching the boys hang out at camp and talk deer hunting. This weekend put things back into perspective for me. I'll be in the woods every day from November 1 until November 10. If I have 1/2 the fun the boys did it will be a great week!

Sounds like everyone is having some good sits. Pretty scary there Dawg.

I haven't been out since shooting that coyote. My time is almost here though. This weekend I'll be taking my kids hunting in MO for youth season, then on Monday I plan to start my week long quest for an IL giant. I may push it back a week if the weather turns warm like the extended forecast says. So, I'll just play it by ear. I haven't even been hunting in IL yet. I've been trying to get one of the good bucks here by my house. Just hasn't worked out thus far. Hopefully I'll add some points to the team within the next couple weeks.

    Good luck to all!

Glad you're ok dawg. Not the picture I wanted to see when checking things on here but when You turned out ok it was best outcome.
Did some grouse hunting and sat a little a few counties over where a buddy used to hunt. He hadn't for years so had to see how its changed. Didn't see any from stand, but lots out there. Next year were gonna try as soon as acorns fall since layout is sweet and some patches of oak. Saw a few while driving around before sitting. On way out minutes after shooting light there was a few smaller ones and less than a mile down the road one I didn't get the best look at but decently over 100". Wish I'd get to sit out there again but gonna keep it close to home til baby's born, getting too close to feel comfortable being over an hour away.

Tell me about it, I've missed 2 now because they were so close I shot right over their backs. I missed one right before I shot my buck. I've been trying!

Might have just got that 50. Yearling doe came in to about 22. Shot sounded good but I couldnt tell 100%. I thought I heard her crash in the creek but can't be positive...there was some thrashing that direction. Gonna go look for my arrow before dark real quick.
