Hey guys. I'm seriously thinking about switching over to these heads. My only question is how often do the blades need to be replaced? I know that the muzzy's I shoot, I replace the blade every now and then.. When one is bent or cut. This doesn't happen often however. When I shoot an animal, are the blades prone to bending? Or are they for use multiple times?
i have some, haven't shot any deer with them yet though. if you want to go through shoulder, i'm suspecting these will bend. if you are shooting ribs, heart, lung etc- you should be good.

Stay with the fixed blade IMHO I shot swacker for a season killed my PA buck with em and a doe and I also lots a buck in Ohio that I found later in gun season, due to a shoulder hit and not great penetration. If i were shooting slick tricks prob would have blown threw but it's my fault for hiting the shoulder. I'm partial to fixed heads.

i don't think many people do, but some people do... i went with a fixed blade broadhead this year. now if i only had a deer to put one through...
Swhackers are pretty tough. The blades stay sharp for about three kills without sharping them. I shot through the spine of a buck Friday night. Severing the aortic artery, and still penetrating into the lung. Cutting it almost in half and still nicking the heart. The ferrule was bent, but the blades were still in good shape. I am (3) for (3) with Swhackers. (2) good bucks and a doe. They are tough and ugly. Very well made broadhead.
Grim Reaper BroadheadsI shoot the grim reaper White tail Specials and have taken 3 deer with the same head and not had to change the blades. Check them out the blades are extremely tough and the heads leave a hell of a hole in the deer. Grim Reaper Broadheads Longest trail was about 40 yards
I would resharpen the blades, replace the blades or replace the BH anytime it is shot before using it to hunt with deer. You want the sharpest possible blade.
I switched to Swhacker this year. Only killed one deer with them so far, but left a really good hole and blood trail. All i had to do was put a new rubber o-ring back on. I hope to kill many more, but i was very pleased with the results i got on this one.
Very durable blades on these broadheads. I am 1 for 1 with them so far, went through two ribs and the arrow stuck in the tree behind where the deer was standing. Not sure what would happen with a shoulder hit but I hope I never find out. Blades were still sharp after blowing through my deer, I wouldn't hesitate to use it again.
I would never intentionally go for the shoulder, just want to have my bases covered in case of the inevitable mistake. Do I have to replace O-rings every shot?
Yes you have to replace them every shot because its designed to break on first impact to release the secondary blades or atleast this has been true for me and i also wouldnt intentionally shoot a shoulder but it happens and last year i shot a doe at 20 yards and center punched the shoulder it went completely through the first shoulder and shattered the one on the other side, this did bend one of the blades but nothing broke and the blades are easy to change if needed.
Big mature bucks have a lot more bone mass than a doe. Nobody ever intentionally shoots for the shoulder but it happens. Fixed blades do not have any thing that moves or opens so the only thing to blame is the hunter if something goes wrong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
wow i had always just replaced the blades completely after using one on a deer never had the urge to sharpen them. I'm using slicktricks i figured replacements were cheap enouth
I've killed 4 with them so far this year. Only had to track one. It ran about 40 yards. I love them...they are all I will shoot. Very tough head too...
