Thats what makes hunting awesome. At least for me its not all about the kill. Its those types of days that make the memories.
I was thinking the exact same thing. You didn't get him, but you weren't expecting them to even be there. I bet your heart was jumping out of your chest when that 6 was on top of you. If that was me, the smell of urine would've ruined it because I would've pissed myself. :p
