No matter what the outcome of this hunt, I'd seriously figure out why your arrow flew like it did before you shoot at another deer. Good luck

I'm kinda leaning towards a liver shot...just barely though. You'll probably find that buck with a little patience. The blood trail may be non-existent. Get on your hands and knees and look for any clue. Like someone else said, take some TP and place it everywhere you find blood/sign. What time did you shoot him? It might be a little easier to get out there before daybreak and look for your arrow. The nokturnal should still be glowing and I'm betting the arrow came out along the way somewhere.

Good point about the arrow but blood will be easier in the daylight. I agree about liver.

That head should leave a blood trail but it may be a little bit before it starts flowing good .

I agree about the blood being easier in the daylight but who knows how far he'll find blood from POI. Hopefully he finds green glow over his buck.

Maybe, might be a good idea to go find arrow (I doubt it's still in the deer) and then let the signs determine if he should go further.

I doubt that. That arrow was flop'n around like a carp in the bottom of my boat!

These were both bloodrunners in 12' but I banned all expandables on my place. Too many rodeos.

bad form can affect arrow trajectory too (hand torque for example)

No new bow needed. 1) Is your arrow the proper spine/weight for your bow? 2) paper tune the bow and adjust arrow rest, nock point, cam timing marks accordingly. Youtube paper tune a bow.

Hope to hear some good news this morning about this deer. I'd definitely take a trip to your bow shop and doing a paper test. Something is not right about your set up.

Found the arrow 50 yds from where I shot him laying in the creek. All the blood was washed off so I don't know how much penetration I got. Found spotty blood for another 50 yds and then nothin...still searching...

Sounds like You have no exit wound so all blood must be from the right side. Goodluck.

Looking at the poor flight and the way that arrow was winging around and how high the shot was ...my guess is you got the spine without shocking or cutting the spinal cord and the arrow stopped

Just left the woods after an unsuccessful search. On our hands and knees for hours looking for pin drops of blood, but couldn't find anything after 50yds. Very minimal blood, seems like the shot was too high and didn't penetrate enough. Will look again after work but hoping he's still out there (alive). Thanks everyone for all the input, and if there's anything positive I can take from this, it's that I need to make sure my bow is tuned correctly before going out again.

    Emotionally & physically drained...

Sorry to hear that. I'd definitely get your bow tuned. As for it being 2007 I wouldn't worry about that at all. My neighbor is shooting a 15 year old bow still, and the bow I just upgraded from was 20 years.
