Man those back straps I had for supper tonight sure were good. Too bad there aren't more back straps on a deer. Fried them up with baked potato and corn on the side.

I'm contemplating leaving the doe alone that busted me, let her and that fawn hang out and see if she brings a buck in when the rut hits at the end of January here. Neat, the guy who owns the local bow shop here that I went out with last weekend to help take down stands since that land is getting clear cut has asked me if I'd like to be one of his hunters to start filming. He is working to start producing a local show, kind of emulating Heartland Bowhunter but with more pranks and clowning around on top of some good scouting/hunting videos. It was a tough choice to make...get to hunt land I'm not having to pay for, get some perks of freebies from the shop on products he gets sent to try out, and have fun with some friends and good people!
Dang, it's supposed to get into the 30s here tonight but I don't want to hunt the stand that I spooked the doe in this week. I may end up just going in on ground at the state forest and sit, then do some scouting and see if I can catch one tomorrow.
I'm starting to see huge rubs all over in my woods. Hoping to catch whoever is making them with my trail cam or my spitfire this weekend!
So pumped for next weekend heading up to trempealeau co wi to the 400 and hope to kick the rut off eith a big ole buck on the ground. Keep you guys posted.
Lots of picked up buck activity here as well, fresh scrapes and rubs as well as some daytime movements. It is so close I can feel it!
