Not sure how to post photos so I copied and pasted from face book. I got this buck this morning around 1030am. I was in my tree stand from 6am till 10am. I got out of the stand and instead of going back to the house my normal route, I made a loop to investigate a deer trail I've know in the past. I hunt on a ridge so I crept over the edge to see if I could spot anything. This deer was bedded down around 35 yards looking down the hill and had no idea I was there. I knew he was the one I got on my trail camera so I ranged him then shot. Perfect shot 35 yards downhill. First time killing a deer on the ground.

Congrats! Sometimes when things don't happen you have to make something happen. Curious, what were the wind conditions? Guessing they were blowing over the ridge? Thermals must have been raising your scent over him.
Congrats. Last year I got my first spot and stalk but. It was an unreal rush. What part of Western PA are you from? I'm from Cranberry Township.
The wind wasn't bad but in my face I believe. It was a pretty steep grade. Plus it was wet and a little rainy. I ranged him at 35 and the shooting angle was saying 32yds. All the elements were right and a lot of luck made it happen.
