That is a good looking deer. Yeah I love when I check a camera and there is a nice one under it. Oh well at least you know he is around :-)

Old man, I know how you feel. Happened to me last year but never saw him. Nice buck, hope you get a chance at him.

Geaton32 that is a nice deer! I love dark racks. We don't have many dark ones here in central Illinois. Seems like all our racks are really bone white.

Doesn't it have something to do with the type of tree they rub on?

It scored 86 3/8. Thought it was bigger when I shot it. If it would have had the two long tines that were broken off it wouldn't have been too bad of a buck. Now I get to be real picky while I wait for one to top the nice one I put down last year.

Well if not tonight Cowboy, good luck in the morning. I'm off this weekend babysitting two beautiful little granddaughters. I know I'm gonna be bushed on Monday.

    Good luck.
    Shoot straight.

Scouted them in a cut feed field lastnight couple good bucks. Walked through the sand hills earlier today got on 12 does and two bucks. Nothing special. Got a call they are cutting feed near a good spot of mine so now I'm leaning up against a tree listening to the choppers waiting for the deer to run in this little grove of trees. My wife is with me and so is a buddy. We are spread out in this grove. We will see what shows up here shortly

I sat over one of my plots last night. I did a clover and turnip mix and it's coming a long well. This is my first go at a food plot. It's not. Real big but I am hoping it produces in the late season!

I think I am taking a couple days off from hunting. So far 14 days in to the season I have hunted 13 of them. I am getting frustrated with the lack of deer sightings but at this point last year all the crops had been out since the beginning of September. However this year all of the corn fields are still in and it is putting a damper on the hunting situation.

I have passed on quite a few small bucks and does but haven't seen much in terms of mature deer. I am hoping by weeks end the majority of crops will be out around where I hunt and will improve hunting conditions.

Also I am planning on making chili and rooting on my cardinals to get a win tonight! :) So hunting will have to be put off for a day

13 of 14! You have been busy. I can't claim that much time on stand and have been in season a month longer I'd guess. I'd take a break too.

It makes it nice when I hunt 5 minutes from work. I can be in stand in about 15-20 minutes depending on which property I choose to hunt. And it's a nice way to wind down after a work day to relax for a couple hours.

Yeah, it takes about an hour for me. 10 minutes home, 10 minutes to change, 20 minute drive and 20 minute walk in. Sometimes I can do it in 45 minutes if I take the gamble not to run into the HP. I feel pretty lucky to have access so close to home.
