We had a pretty heavy storm roll in last Friday night. Here's some pictures I took using my DSLR on the bulb function for extended exposures.

On the other end of the spectrum, here's a shot I took the night before on a cool, fairly clear evening. The haze in the sky is being back lite from the lights of the city.

I have a dslr but I have no clue how to really use it. One of these days I will have to learn!

Very good work Skywalker! How long were you keeping your shutter open to capture those. I gotta find a nice vantage point that is fairly flat and try taking photos of a storm rolling in. Always wanted to but its difficult with all these hills. Great work man!

My shutter speed varied from about 15 seconds up to close to 60 seconds. Once I opened, I just waited for a good strike, then closed it. This was my first attempt at trying to capture lightning. Learned alot and I think I should be able to get some even better shots in the future. I'm not sure if my focal point was correct, but I found it hard to know without something to focus in as a point of reference.

You need to come down to Kansas, we have plenty of open terrain with out any hills that would be great vantage points for taking photos!
