So on sat I shot at a huge ten point and I hit him about two inches high. Found the arrow and blood but was unable to locate him. I also had a deer tracking dog track him with no luck. I only found one location of blood and it was the size of a basketball. The arrow, was not damaged and I had almost full pen. Do u think this deer will come back? I am going to give this stand a rest for five days... Any tips?

If you truly only hit the deer 2 inches high and got full penetration... Then that my friend is a dead deer... Go back out and keep looking because he should be laying out there some where

If you can't find much blood and the trail comes to a end of no more blood stop and look for the thickest part of the woods or if a creek or some sort of waters source is near look towards those ways. I have found deer near both a lot of times. Keep at it I'm sure you'll find him!

2" high has to be an exaggeration. 2" from POI is still a perfect shot. If that is indeed where you hit him, he is dead. I'd get back out there and continue the search. Listen for ravens or crows while you're out there.

That should be a dead deer. Get out there and look for him so more, it'll be worth it.

2" high of what? Were you hunting from a stand or a blind? If you were in a stand the angle would help with a high shot. Also was it a pass through? From the sounds of the original post I would say he's dead.

What did the arrow look like in terms of blood/hair?

How long did you wait until you got down to find your arrow?

How far away did you find that bball size area of blood?

    How much did you look?

Did it rain or anything after you shot the deer?

Do you have have friends that could help you look?

He was 27 yards away. I shot him from a stand that is 19 feet. No blood on impact. I found the arrow 30 yards from where I hit him with blood 6 inches from the knock and some hair. I located blood another 30 yards from the arrow. Then the blood trail goes dry. Looked for a total of ten hours. I had 5 people looking. Searched hear both ponds and found nothing.

2" high of what? Lungs I'm assuming.... if the deer jumped your strung or ducked your arrow it could be a lot more than 2".

Here is a deer I watched duck my string and knew I hit high (still sick over it) BUT this was 3 weeks after the shot and him pushing does on a creek bottom. The blackish scab tucked close to the shoulder but high was my hit. It truly depends how high you hit and 2" from what....
