It's a great day for hunting some deer. First time out this season for me, looking at some public land. 55°F, a little rain to keep sound and scent down, and a perfect wind. Here's hoping.
Takes me 45 min to an hour to get up the hill to my stand. Very crunchy out today, lots of leaves on the ground and no rain in over a week. Very quiet out here, no wind.
First time in the stand here in pa. Wanted to get in early, arrive at 5. What do I find? 5 deer standing under my stand! Arg..... I was trying to come in slow and along some corn but I still got the wheeze of disapproval. :banghead: Red meat is not bad for you. Green fuzzy meat is bad for you!
Rain came down last hundred yards to the stand which was great cause it covered my noise coming in ad gettng in. Had Adele come through @ 0600 but couldn't see it. Raining on and off perfect morning. Let's see if the deer cooperate
Sopping wet in the michigan thumb. Non stop rain since I got in this morning. Put your chin up, pull your hat down, and be a cowboy.
Already getting some good activity. 2 smaller does came in within range and the 3rd took another path.
On the mountain ground this am. Leaves and acorns are falling and the fog is thickening. More of a gear check than a hunt. If a doe stumbled by, I'd call her 50 points though.
Looking at my trail cam video while I'm sitting up here and had a couple of morning does come through and an 8pt with a crab claw come through 2 evenings ago. He wouldn't score real high but I'd have to shoot him. Looks like he goes 180-200 lbs and he's mature, 3.5-4.5.
Pouring rain here this am. I am NOT out there! Looking forward to Sunday PM after the front. Blessings.........Pastorjim
Foliage is great, dead calm, nothing moving. Beech nuts everywhere though s there is hope. Can shoot either sex deer, bear and turkey.
